Inspiration | Architecture power couples

Architects who are partners in life are quite common, somewhat less so those who are also partners in business. History however is littered with some notable architecture power couples. Let’s start with adopted Aussie heroes Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony. Fun facts: Marion was the first woman in the US to become a licensed architect, Frank Lloyd Wright’s first employee, and the one who urged Walter to enter the competition to design Canberra. Pictured is their sublime Capitol Theatre, 1924. Easily one of Melbourne’s greatest and least used treasures.
